Offered for Preschool
Children:

Morning
storytimes for children 6
months to 5 with stories, songs, fingerplays, flannel
boards, and crafts.

An evening storytime each month for families.

Monthly special events such as
puppet shows, storytellers, and craft programs.

A summer reading program that includes a "Read to Me"
component for preschool children, as well as a variety of
special programs.

Coloring and craft sheets are available all week.

Visits to the library by preschool groups on Monday
mornings, and outreach visits by a librarian to preschools
on Tuesday mornings. Call to schedule.

Display space for early childhood art exhibits.

A Parent/Teacher collection with books on parenting and
early childhood learning activities, and magazines such as
Family Fun and Mailbox.

A non-fiction collection that includes books that appeal
to preschoolers, such as books on trucks and dinosaurs.

A collection of books, audio recordings, and videos in
Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Puppet and book sets which are available for loan.

Audiovisual materials including videos, DVDs, music
cassettes and CDs, book/cassette kits, and CD ROMs.

Multimedia learning kits, many of which are suitable for
preschoolers, on subjects such as "Curious George,"
"Community Workers," and "Arthur."

Children:

services to assist children with finding materials and
completing homework.

month.

A craft and paper game table that is available all week
and changed on Friday.

A summer and winter reading program for elementary age
children, along with a wide variety of special programs.

Class visits every fall to the library by all third
grades in the West Springfield Public Schools, as well as
visits from individual classes upon request.

Monthly flyers sent to all West Springfield elementary
schools.

Computer access to the Internet, reference databases, and
word-processing.

WWF, Mad, etc..

Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

teachers, which includes curriculum related materials, as
well as parenting advice.

A Young Adult audiovisual collection including CD ROMs,
books on tape, and music CDs. The YA video collection
includes feature videos, as well as non-fiction videos for
teachers and students on health, drug abuse, etc.
